The Pennyroyal Distillery was founded in 2023 by two great friends and one bourbon legend, Jim Rutledge.
Named for Kentucky’s Pennyroyal shelf—the limestone bedrock that supplies the pure water essential to Kentucky whiskey—our distillery stands on the same principles of strength and purity that define the region itself. 
Jim Rutledge is likewise a bedrock of Kentucky whiskey. With decades of unmatched experience, he has shaped the craft through rigorous standards, time-honored methods, and deep practical knowledge.
